News Isn’t for Everyone
Maybe it happened the last time you were patiently seated in a Doctor's waiting room? More than likely, from
the flat screen TV just above your head blasted the news stories of the day. As part of a very captive audience,
like it or not, there was no way to escape it. Trying to concentrate on other quieter things while you waited was
pretty much out of the question. It was news or else – news. Maybe you like your news after dinner while seated
in your comfy chair, driven home to you by Brian, Katie or Charlie. But the waiting room experience gave you
little choice.
Today there are more demands on our time than ever before. We should be given better choices on how
we spend our time in a waiting room. If not blaring news – then what? How about a quiet scenario that can be
used to entertain, educate or communicate with the patient or customer – if they choose to participate. A DVD
program that will fully function without the need for sound – which may distract others in the waiting room as
well as nearby office workers.
There are a number of products that meet this quiet, non-news criteria. The better programs available
have high impact visuals and thought provoking quotes, while others also have pop culture trivia and health
information in a multiple choice question format. Time passes quickly for the waiting patron with an interesting,
fun program. The office is given an important opportunity to communicate helpful information and special
offerings by personalizing the program.
Isn’t quiet entertainment a better option?
